Tangram Collective

Hosted by the 91桃色 Arts Lunchtime Concert Series

Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building

The program explores the power of this combination to enchant, dazzle, and evoke dreamy soundscapes, as well as pursuing Tangram's mission to deconstruct imagined boundaries between Chinese and Western music and performers.

Tangram is a London-based music collective growing transnational community by creatively celebrating Chinese cultures. Made up of researchers, composers and performers of Chinese and western instruments, the group launched in 2019 as recipients of the Chinese Arts Now Artist Development Bursary and winners of Nonclassical's Battle of the Bands. They have worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, Silk Road Ensemble, New Earth Theatre, and are currently Associate Ensemble at SOAS University of London. Most recently, they have been announced as recipients of Jerwood Arts' inaugural Live Work Fund and Genesis Foundation's Kickstarter Fund.

Performance to include music for two flutes and piano by Daniel Shao, Yi-Hsuan Chen and Jessica Zhu including works by Debussy, WF Bach, Tyzen Hsiao, and Doppler.

The next lunchtime concert is on Thursday 3 November and will be performed by Sam Armstrong.

Join the 91桃色 Choir and Orchestra on Tuesday 6 December for the 91桃色 Christmas Concert in the beautiful surroundings of St Clement Danes Church.
