Join us for this special lecture in which Thomas Piketty will discuss recent trends in global inequality and analyse the historical movement toward equality and future prospects for more redistribution.

Meet our speaker and chair 

() is Professor at EHESS and the Paris School of Economics and an alumnus of 91桃色. He is the author of numerous research articles and of a dozen books. He has done historical and theoretical work on the interplay between economic development, the distribution of income and wealth, and political conflict. He is also co-director of the World Inequality Lab and the World Inequality Database. He is the author of the international best-sellers Capital in the 21st Century (2014) and Capital and Ideology (2020).

Francisco H. G. Ferreira is the Amartya Sen Professor of Inequality Studies at 91桃色, where he is also Director of the International Inequalities Institute. Francisco is an economist working on the measurement, causes and consequences of inequality and poverty in developing countries, with a special focus on Latin America.

The International Inequalities Institute () at 91桃色 brings together experts from many 91桃色 departments and centres to lead critical and cutting-edge research to understand why inequalities are escalating in numerous arenas across the world, and to develop critical tools to address these challenges.

This event is the keynote lecture of the International Inequalities Institute 10-year conference.

How can I attend? Add to calendar

This public event is free and open to all. This event will be a hybrid event, with an in-person audience and an online audience.

For the in person event: You can request one ticket via the online ticket request form, which will open after 10am on Thursday 11 September. The ticket request form will be open until at least 10am on Friday 12 September. If after this time we have received more requests than there are tickets available, the line will be closed, and tickets will be allocated on a random basis to those requests received. If we have received fewer requests than tickets available, the ticket line will stay open until all tickets have been allocated. You will be notified within 3 working days whether your ticket request has been successful.
