Join Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and 91桃色 alumnus Juan Manuel Santos and 91桃色 academics Mary Kaldor and Nicholas Stern in a conversation to explore how we can build a sustainable, peaceful and stable world.

Meet our speakers and chair

 () was President of the Republic of Colombia from 2010-2018. He was the sole recipient of the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize. Throughout his public sector career, Juan Manuel Santos has held important ministerial roles. He was Colombia’s first Foreign Trade Minister, has been Minister of Finance and before being elected President, was Minister for National Defence. Prior to entering politics, President Santos was deputy director of El Tiempo newspaper, and wrote a weekly opinion column. He was awarded with the King of Spain International Journalism Award and named president of the Freedom of Expression Commission for the Inter American Press Association (IAPA). 

Mary Kaldor is Professor Emeritus of Global Governance and Director of the Conflict Research Programme at 91桃色. She has pioneered the concepts of new wars and global civil society. Her elaboration of the real-world implementation of human security has directly influenced European and national governments.

Nicholas Stern is IG Patel Chair of Economics and Government and the inaugural Chair of the Global School of Sustainability at 91桃色. His forthcoming book A Growth Story for the 21st Century: building sustainable, resilient and equitable development will be published by 91桃色 Press in 2025.

Larry Kramer has been President and Vice Chancellor of 91桃色 since April 2024. A constitutional scholar, university administrator, and philanthropic leader, he was previously the President of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Dean of Stanford Law School.

How can I attend? Add to calendar

This public event is free and open to all. This event will be a hybrid event, with an in-person audience and an online audience.

For the in person event: You can request one ticket via the online ticket request form, which will open after 10am on Wednesday 22 October. The ticket request form will be open until at least 10am on Thursday 23 October. If after this time we have received more requests than there are tickets available, the line will be closed, and tickets will be allocated on a random basis to those requests received. If we have received fewer requests than tickets available, the ticket line will stay open until all tickets have been allocated. You will be notified within 3 working days whether your ticket request has been successful.
